mute/crop multiple clips in timeline simultaneously

Post by cek333 »

Happy new year everyone!

Is there any way to mute or crop multiple clips in the timeline simultaneously. Right now I have to drag and drop the crop filter to each clip I want to apply it to. Sometimes I have a lot of clips on the timeline. It would be great if I can select them all and apply the same crop filter to all of them. Ditto with muting. I've been searching the forum but can't seem to find a match. Is it possible?

I believe it's possible to apply the crop to your orginial video so that when you trim it, the trimmed parts retain the cropped effect of the original. I believe I've done that on a previous occasion. But now, I failed to apply the filter to the original clip, and now I have about 50 or so clips from the original. So I'd like to apply a crop to all of them simultaneously.

Thanks.
P.S. I'm using VS11+

Happy New Year to you...

No I'm sorry to say that is not possible with VS11. I thought for sometime the Copy/Paste Attributes would be able to do just that. However they limited the attributes in that function to just the Size, and Position of the clips, in the overlay tracks. VS's big brother MSP is capable of doing this.

However with MSP, the downside is that Corel will soon stop selling it.

crop multiple videos simultaneously

Post by cek333 »

I found a way to crop multiple videos simultaneously (over one year later, lol). First put all the videos you want to crop on the timeline and save it as a videostudio project.

Then, create a new project, go to the timeline, right-click and select "Insert Video...", then select the videostudio project you created above. It will appear as a single clip in the timeline. Now you can mute or crop it like a regular clip and it will be applied to all the clips in the videostudio project.

If you need to edit any of the underlying clips, you might have to repeat step 2.
