Movie Wizard Disappering templates

Hi guys,

All was working well until I went back in to Movie Wizard in VS11. To cut a long story I have lost all my templates.
This is not surprising since I installed Vista I have lost files galore. (Stupid system) I dont want the hassle of re-installing vs11 again.
So can you tell me :-

What the template extension is i.e .xml etc? So I can search for them.

What directory I put them in afer I find them?

Can I download fresh/new templates from anywhere?

Can I create my own templates?

First -- can you confirm that there is nothing now in the three sub-folders in C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Video Studio 11\Content\Menu Template?

I have four folders in the folder you mentioned.

Customize
One Scene Button
Scene Button
Text Button

and for some reason the movie wizard now freezes. You select the videos you want in the wizard click next. Nothing pops down when you select Home Movie and you cant select title or even close the wizard.

That's interesting because below that level I mentioned, I have three more folders labelled 4x3, 16x9 and HD Basic. And below that, in each of the first two at least, I have the four sub-folders you mention. Then in each of those are actual files relating to templates. What I am trying to find out is whether you have actual files still there or not. If you do, then something has obviously gone wrong with one of the .dat files.

However, I am hoping someone else might jump in here and identify which precise one.

Normally, you just rename it to OLDxxx.dat, and next time you start VS, a new file is created with the correct associations in it to the templates...

Sorry. I was tired last night. Having restarted the computer this morning I too now have 4x3 16x9 and HD Basic. I cant see the other files I mentioned before.

Basically I open Movie Wizard. Select the files I wish to work on and import them. click next>. Go to Theme Template: Home Movie etc I only have Home Movie & Slide show in there but clicking on Home movie does nothing. Clicking on Title: does nothing. I cant enter text there. <Back Next> are greyed out. Duration:00:00:00
So obviously the clips are not following through to the next section. Any idea whats happening?

Since writing the above have been working on problem. It does appear that its just the movie files are not following through to the next section. I tried it with just images and it works fine. When I want to use video I say select and import a 12 second clip. Select next. But it does not appear in the second section, nor can I click <Back to try again.

Hi there.

I'm running from the trial version and have exactly the same problem. I want to buy this software but am afraid that the activation will not solve this.

I'll keep following this thread.

Apart from a few minor irritations VS11 plus is working well. Good software and I am sure these minor irritations will get sorted.

Not yet. I dont think I have one home movie template on there. Contemplating re-installing but its such a hassle. I dont know how but id love to make my own etc. I can find and download buttons etc but would not know how to incorprate them in to VS11.

I tried as per the suggested thread to rename the folders; no success.

I was just wondering ...
Maybe I'm trying to look for something that does not work with the Trial?

The wizard for importing images has one template available and works perfectly well; only the video has problems.

Does the Trial version has a template for video active?

Yes there should be some video templates. I'm not sure how many as I don't have the trial version.

I noticed a few posts earlier that you mention "activating" the trial. Word of caution, and our recommendation... Do Not activate a trial version. Purchase the full version, download all the files. Uninstall the Trial version, then install the full purchased version.

The updates, patches, ect., seem to see activated trial versions as just trial versions, and will not install, or at the least cause people a lot of grief getting them installed.

I'm going to buy tomorrow and will uninstall and do a full installation of the licensed version.
