Why won't Ulead Install Update Packs for VS11 Plus?
When opening the installer for any update pack I get an error message saying that the installer cannot find VS11 installed on my computer.
I have VS11 Plus and I know the installer can find it because when I first clicked on the installer it told me to close Video Studio before it could start.
Any thoughts?

Please answer the following:
1. When you installed VideoStudio was it from a purchased CD or from a Downloaded Installation file.
2, Did you stick to the default installation path offered by the installation program. Whilst installing it somewhere else shouldn't be a problem I have always had my reservations about that.
The Default installation should create a shortcut icon with the following link
"C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 11\vstudio.exe"

Same thing
I am trying to upgrade to the PowerPack to test AVCHD...the primary reason I have interest in Ulead (Have a Canon HG10). It tells me it cannot find v11 on my PC. It is in the original path chosen by the install I downloaded.

First thing to clarify for us, Trial or Full version?
Patches, updates and the Powerpack will not install to trial versions.
Next if you are using a Full version, did you purchase an Activation Key, that activated/unlocked the trial version to a full version? This has always seemed to cause this type of problem. For some reason the update installers still see the Activated TBYB versions as just trials.

Trial vs Full
I am using Trial. That explains my problem, but does not help me understand if I can work with AVCHD files effectively. Vegas gives you full AVCHD in their trial. We hate dropping $100 not knowing stuff works.
Video editing Software of all brands is famous for problems, instability, and little support.
The software with the Canon HG10 is ULead. It works fine, but is very limited.

Same here, I won't buy it if I can't test it with AVCHD files in the trial version. I also just got an Canon HG10.

Full version and Canon HG10
I went ahead and purchased the full Version 11 plus. So far, everything works fine, including the power packs for AVCHD.
Only foul thing I saw so far is the the WinDVD that comes on the bonus disk will not play AVCHD files like the version that came with the Canon Camcorder...so I reinstalled WinDVD from the Camcorder software CD and now I can play AVCHD files again.

activation's good
if it's a trial version and you activated it you shouldnt be having any problems installing the updates.

The trouble is, though, Ian, that people who do precisely that are in fact having trouble. And it just confirms what we have been advising people to do for several versions of VS at least. If you have the trial version and buy a licence, first totally ininstall the trial version. Then download the full version and apply the key to that. Then the updates and patches will recognise that you have the full and legitimate version loaded.
If it worked for you, that is great, but it doesn't work for most users in that situation as many threads on this Board will attest, unfortunately.

I guess so since we have never seemed to find a solution here except to recommend that you download the full version and install that after fully uninstalling the trial version. But that pre-supposes that, when you paid for VS, Corel actually sent you the three links for the full download version -- and I am not sure that is their modus operandi when people are just activating a trial version...
