cannot hear cd track prior to ripping

Post by ctscar190 »

In VS11+ and finally adding a cd track from a disk, the disk is recognised and all the tracks are shown, but when I select a track and click on the play button there is no sound. When I click on rip, it imports it to the timeline. Am I missing some setting that allows me to preview the track?

I found the problem after I sent in post. The cd player slider in windows was pulled right down. I should have checked it to start with. I don't know what would cause this to happen. All the sliders are usally up.

I usually find, in any case, that it is far easier to my previewing of audio and ripping of specific tracks, then trimming it, cutting it, and otherwise editing it, in a third party program like Nero Wave Editor, though everyone will have their favourite audio editor!

I've found this strange behavior myself. I think it must be related to ActiveX or Flashplayer thing. I first noticed it when I would view some clips on YouTube, or Google Video. I would constantly have to reset the volume. It has not done it for some time now.
