Bob
You have a choice of 3 colour sets per DVD Menu.
You cannot select a particular set from within VideoStudio but they can be changed later by burning to a hard drive folder and then tweaking the menus with either MenuEdit or PGCEdit.
Alternatively you can do it with the DVD Menu plug in contained in PhotoImpact.

Great now I can change the hover colour. How do I prevent my highlight image (HLI_1) from changing to that colour? Perhaps I didn't create it the correct way in the first place (I'm really a PS person) I just pasted the image & changed its name. I'd like it to become visible as is.

Which of my 3 suggested methods are you following?
It sounds like you have attempted to alter a menu with PhotoShop
however you need PhotoImpact to alter things with an image editing suite.

TEST: PhotoImpact -v- Adobe Photoshop for creating DVD Menus for Ulead authoring programs.

I am using the DVD Menu plug in contained in PhotoImpact. I can see no way to modify the highlight image. Just the Scene or Navigation Button.
The menuedit won't work for me because I want to include a folder & this can only be done by creating an iso file.

I have a photo impact 11 tutorial, but I'm using 12 & it is slightly different. I want to click on a scene button & have an image appear.

sjj1805 wrote:Regarding the bit about test.vsp
I think here the OP is in fact following another of my recommendations
which is to start a new project (to clear the timeline) and then immediately save the project under a name (test.vsp) so that if for any reason the authoring stage has to be re-opened at a later date then any menus etc that have been set up will be intact.
Is this the only way to save menus. I have tried this and although it works while your current session of vs11 is open, when you close vs11 and reopen at a later time and want to add eg test vsp it says that the project is empty and cannot be opened.

To save your menu you don't have to "start a new project and immediately save it". You can simply use Save or Save As. But saving the VSP is the only way to save the menu.

And opening an empty VSP is possible. I don't know why you are getting an error message.

ghoward -- I think what Steve was getting at was the save a new project file after editing and producing an mpeg-2, calling it anything you like (test.vsp). Then you open the burning module (Share > Create Disc > DVD), insert your mpeg-2 video, and build your menu. To save it, you then have to close the burning module. You will get a message saying that something is being saved, but ignore it. No one knows what is saved, or where it is after you have closed VS (as you have already discovered). But after closing the burning module, you have manually save the project test.vsp again and this should definitely save your menu settings as well. Then you can reopen the burning module, everything will appear automatically again, and you can go to the final page and burn a disc.

The topic is expanding a little.
In response to Howard. I have had that problem in the past. But as Ken said be sure and click on save before exiting. Another way is to use the customize button, make your changes and then "add to menu" this creates a new template.

Steve,
I can get the effect you have referenced. What I was hoping is that the image would just become visible as is. If I have to put up with a colour change then I'll just ignore the idea. Too bad it sounded like a good effect to me.

It would be great if I could find where PHotoimpact buries some of this information.

Ken,
I understand what you were saying about time saving mpeg files. Unfortunately one of the things I use a lot is the chapter feature and this gets lost when you convert to mpeg.

Thanks for every ones time and help

Bob
