Cropping problem

Cropping problem
I have been trying to get a special video effect. This effect requires several cropped portions of the same video joined together. Hard to explain but the nearest example is here :-
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=HaFwrYVLwaE
I find I can split it fine. But one cropped bit blanks out the other when the video is run, unless you move it out of the one on tops boundry area allocated by the orange blocks.
Ok have not described it too well but see if you can get the above example to work for you in VS11. I cant!
(I know it says this works in vs11 in the tutorials, but it doesnt for me)

The title of that video you liniked to is VS10+
The + version gives you extra overlay tracks.
So this means you can do it in VS10+ & VS11+
It's possible to do it in the non + version but it's going to require to out-put to a video file at every stage of each overlay. And it's too fiddly to this without the extra overlay tracks

Turns out I have plus. So that theory is out of the window, so to speak. I am sure there is a work around, just have to work out what it is.
Thanks anyway for the reply.
Between me replying to this I got your new message.
I can create multiple tracks. Thats not the problem. When an image is cropped it occupies .. say the bottom left hand corner. But the other 3/4 is blacked out. The blacked out bits overlay the other 3 cropped images.

I have uploaded the finished video to youtube so you will see what I mean. I took a video of a butterly on a flower. Split the video into four blocks and had them enter from different directions. Meet in the middle. Pause. Then go out again. You will notice that when they meet in the middle the one in the bottom right blacks out the other 3 until the other 3 split and move away from the area of the last one.

Good luck!

Hi Frank,
I posted about this not to long ago. The effect is called the Moving Blocks, and in the tutorial he omitted one very important step, Transparency. Here's a link to that process..
