WinDVD installer doesn't accept serial number
Hello,
just purchased WinDVD Gold 8 online and tried to install it. When entering the serial number, the install wizard tells me that the key is wrong.
I tried both copying the key using the Windows clipboard and entering it manually, it doesn't work. Funnily the text field in which the number must be entered does not accept the complete code, the code is truncated automatically from a certain character on.
It doesn't matter whether I enter the key lowercase or uppercase. I made sure that there's no typo in the code.
The key is of the form
[17 characters and cyphers] - [17 characters and cyphers] - [17 characters and cyphers] - [20 characters and cyphers]
I am very very gutted.
Any help appreciated.
Regards from Germany,
Chris

Can Not Register WinDVD 8 Gold - Invalid Serial Number
I purchased WinDVD8 gold and can not complete the online registeration. I receive an invalid serial number error although this is a new purchase. Additionally, I receive the same error with the Update/Patch as author/user rawhide85.

I sympathize with all 3 members who have this problem and can only offer the following suggestions.
Intervideo FAQ site "How do I activate WinDVD Platinum or WinDVD Gold?"
and if this fails to solve the problem then you will need to contact Corel
Email customer support

Re: Can Not Register WinDVD 8 Gold - Invalid Serial Number
Regarding the administrators reply.
Prior to posting my initial reply, I checked the Int.terVidoe website's FAQ. I read their instructions. I have not received an email with a serial number. I purchased WinDVD from CompUSA,a national retailer. During registration, initially I did receive a input box for the serial. Subsequent attempts allowed me to enter a serial number however I still awaiting an email. As of today, 12-8-08, I do not receive an input box to enter a serial number.
Question to you: Are you a WinDVD user? Was your purchase from a 'brick-mortar' retailer or online? Were you able to register your product? I appreciate your assistance however please do not assume we did not follow instructions.
Thank you

Thank you for your response concerning this issue.
Despite my grand sounding title "Forum Admin" I am not an employee of Corel Corporation, I am a user like yourself but have been granted Web Board Administration privileges.
I have several computer systems and a wide range of Video related products - some listed below in my signature.
I installed a copy of WinDVD 8 on an XP Service Pack 2 computer and it installed perfectly. Using the same download file(s) I found that I was unable to register WinDVD 8 on any of my other computers XP or Vista. I assumed that this was due to the manner in which the product is registered by allowing it to be installed on only 1 machine. This is only an assumption and may not be correct. I followed the various suggestions on the Corel/Intervideo web sites but could not get it to register onto a second machine.
My 2 Laptop computers came pre-installed with Vista Home Premium and WinDVD 8 and so I have three working copies of it. I also have a working copy of WinDVD 7 on another XP computer.

Shall I same problem with activation from under version 7 Platinum. First installation functions, but after breakdown computer and re - - installation installer will report error and activation reports invalid data (defective serial number, password also issue cards). Programme was reclaimed near dealer, published new licence, but after exchange harddisk and re - - installation of all selfsame problem. Dealer mine computer he will have it that the activation WinDVD is based on time base- struck programme you must install bis 10 days, then is copy regarded behind piratic. Programme so buy only bis first breakdown!
P.s.Today am got newly bought WinDVD 8 Platinum, because on legally bought WinDVD 7 Platinum am already resigned. But after installation gruesome dream activation continues: "Your serial story issue already was used". At the same time I got "Corel Licensing Certificate" on it's name! At the same time me was reported that the on mine computer already be functional (??!!) WinDVD 7 (whose activation was thrown!!!) and my having demo on 5 days. It account cheat. If Intervideo doesn't speak activation work up, why is employs? To stealing?! Shall I all documentation about square dealing purchase programmes WinDVD 7 Platinum (2x!) also WinDVD 8 Platinum (1X) More than once is buy will don't mean to. Against service piracy perhaps fizzle, but fight I'll.

The activation code expires after 10 days from purchase but you can generate a new activation key by logging into your InterVideo member account.
Declined or used licence issue WinDVD 8 Platinum
For sjj1805,
I be in a little other position. Shall I purchased WinDVD7 Platinum online in r.2006 (activation disownment bis now) and after resignation in support of Intervidea newly purchased WinDVD 8 Platinum on porter CD and to him "Corel Licensing Certificate" with date "December 6, 2007 with issue licence (Order Number), issue product (Product Number),accurate title programme and licence issue (License Key). This issue would in my opinion to me being a unchanging (according to our laws!
Problem is that the after installation programme reports "engaged issue already was register" and programme cross over bis trial version on 5 days. Install on his computer where am alone (administrator), , Firewal be ahead of activation undone (earlier it is impossible reserve add, must get bis list programmes to was what add).
On support me said " -sorry, until aren't registered, isn't support" But until isn't support, isn't registration! It gets ridiculous. I think as though Intervideo (Corel?) build tomb stone.
Next time I shall buy Power DVD, even if be in somebody's worse. Damage.
A I'm sorry mine translators English. Thank you.

Re: Declined or used licence issue WinDVD 8 Platinum
Greet all. Anticipate as though yet I owe explication: it CD with certificate is korporatni licence bought 29112007 and taken (by post) 9.1.2008 Report " Was already registered" am according to counsel in Knowledge Base from - mean and wait what it will do. Otherwise mine account with Corel is established, but empty - nor WinDVD 7 bought online 2006 nor new purchase. Where then update, and how evidence right to upgrade? Always buy full new programme?! How act? Knows somebody how possibly save DVD7? I compared version 7/8 and 7 go out better, BD and HD I have no need. U version WinDVD 8 Platinum what runs shall I well running Trimension, sound and video is excellent, but filters (sharpness, effekt cinema - auditorium etc . are is gray. "centre solving" give upon purchase page, from that try as though is that a always triac. Thank youMilan L. wrote:For sjj1805,
