I am looking to purchase one of these progams and would like advice on which one would suit me best
I have a sony DCR-TRV33 mini dv camcorder. It is used to record the children, i would like to edit it on my PC then transfer it back to tape and also make a copy onto dvd. I dont do a great deal of editing, but need the option to get rid of the rough edges
Thanks in advance
Dave

Movie Factory is a DVD authoring program that has some editing capabilites. VideoStudio is a video editor with some authoring capabilibies. With that being said, you may want to download the trial version of both to get the feel of which might suit you best.

I agree with Black Lab, that you should try both programs. (Corel's product line-up is confusing and their marketing is equally as confusing.)
For most people in your situation (people making "home movies"), Video Studio is the best all-round program. ...I would recommend Movie Factory for people who are just making DVDs from captured TV broadcasts. Some people have both. (...Some of us have several audio/video programs & utilities!)
