Bright Eyes

Post by Paulio »

Hi,

Hopefully you can offer me some advice please.

I am using PhotoImpact 10 and I am trying to remove or alter the bright eyes on a picture of my nephew, which was caused by the flash.

Are there any tools to solve this issue?

Kind Regards,

Paulio

There is a tool to remove "red eye" from a picture. You can learn more about it by searching for "remove red eye" in the help dialogue.

However, if it's a bright flash rather than a red one then you're going to have to do it manually. Here are the steps.

1. Zoom in so that the problem area fills most of the screen
2. Use the lasso selection tool to draw around the thing that you want to darken. Be careful not to include any of the surrounding area.
3. Once your selection is set go to format>birghtness and contrast and use that tool to darken the problem area
4. Right click on the selection and click merge
5. Now go to the blur tool. It's the icon to the left of the paintbrush
6. Change the blur to level one and then somewhere between 5-10 for size.
7. Blur around the area you have darkened to blend it in with the rest of the picture.
8. Congratulations. You're done.
