Scammed by Ulead??.....Need you help...

Post by sn8wman »

For a long time ago I downloaded, and later purchased UVS 9.0, for which I payed 100$, and the reference number was sent to me. But, not long ago, I downloaded the trial version of UVS 11.0...which turned out to be a BIG mistake. 'Cause after downloading and installing that, it turns out that for some reason the trial of UVS 9.0 is over and I need to either buy it or reavtivate it. I thought maybe this problem would go away after the trial of UVS 11 was over and I uninstalled and deleted it....

It turns out, that was not the case. So I had to reactivate UVS 9.0, only to discover that the email in which the reference number was sent to me was no longer of excistance....I couldn't find it. The loss of the reference number was of course all my fault, but I just think it is horribly wrong to "lose" a 100$ program because I downloaded a trial version of a newer model. If anyone can help me, PLEASE do...

Welcome to the forums,

Sorry to say, but this forum is staffed by users, just like you. No Corel employees, representatives or affiliates regularly read this forum. The only advice we can provide is to contact Corel Customer Care, and plead your case with them.

Your issue is not a scam by Ulead or Corel. You need to be more mindful of what and how you install programs. Furthermore I have installed just about every program, full and Trial, that Ulead, and Corel produces. I've never had a problem where uninstalling a trial version rendered one of my full versions not usable. If your VS9 was a trial, then it will also expire.

If you still have the installer for VS9, then install it. To reactivate it you need to contact Corel, as they acquired Ulead.

I got loads of "Ulead" software - just look at my signature box below.
Never had a problem installing and later removing trial versions.
I have sometimes had to do so to explore users problems on this forum.

Just a note to say that I also had a problem when I downloaded the VS10 trial (awhile back). Some of it's files interfered with my VS9 files. Ulead didn't give any specific installation instructions or suggest a specific folder for the program to be placed in if you had a previous version of VS already installed (btw), so I know it can happen.

Fortunately, I had registered my VS9. Registering your software is very important, especially if you plan to try other trials (or purchase) other products from that company. My pc also does lovely things like blow up motherboards and has had to be rebuilt a few times. I've never had a problem with Ulead sending a link where I can download and reinstall. I know that registering my product has saved my butt a few times.

It's unfortunate you've had this problem. I hope you are able to recover your software.

Why not trying a system restore using a date before the installation of VS11 TBYB?
