VS11+ Ripple Editing After DV Quick Scan Capture

Post by nicklanigan »

Hi there.

Just looking for some help with a feature in VS I've not used before, and am not sure existed in previous versions.

I've used the DV Quick Scan capture method to capture and insert clips into the timeline. The feature new to me is the ability for VS to automatically put in a title track containing the date the footage was shot, taken from the DV timecode. I've used the option for this to be inserted continuously.

It works just fine.

However, when I've gone into the regular edit step, turned on ripple editing, and tried to trim a clip, it can't be done. The trim bars don't allow themselves to be dragged.

Turning off ripple editing allows the timming to occur, but it obviously makes a mess of the title track in relation to the video.

I'm guessing this is related to the "continuous" title track, which has exactly the same length as the captured clip does.

In my mind, I would have thought that trimming the clip would have resulted in a the title tracked being trimmed by an identical amount.

I'd appreciate some expert advice please!

VS version is 11.5.0157.2 Plus.

Nick.
