Failed to init preview clip - AVCHD

I am trialling Studio 11 - and will upgrade from VS8. Have just bought a Pansonic SD5 and used it in Aus - excellent. Many MTS files saved. I have followed the instructions in ID 762065 and get the subject error message after I navigate to the AVCHD folder on the SDHC card and also from the copy on my HDrive I like to download the card content onto my HD before I delete from the SD card. The tick boxes are greyed out; the error message appears very quickly after trying to import. Am I trying to import MTS files or am I missing the point? Could someone please help and perhaps explain the relevance of the sub files of folder AVCHD and the format of the MTS files in the AVCHD/BDMV/CLIPINF/PLAYLIST/STREAM sub folder -I am not a techie!
