Adding Audio to Clips Ruins Video Feed

Post by Capt »

I'm brand new to DVD authoring and am using the 30-day trial of DVD MovieFactory 4.0, trying to decide if I want to purchase the product. I'm having problems with customizing the clips, but I want to give the product a fair shake so I was hoping someone could tell me what I'm doing wrong.

I am creating a DVD of a dance recital. I created a basic DVD of the recital with no problems, everything looks great. I then decided the audio quality of my original recording wasn't the best, so I gathered all of the songs the kids were dancing to in mp3 format and want to add them to the clips and mute the original sound.

In the Enhance Video area I selected the audio tab, added the mp3's to the correct clips and muted the original sound. The moment I do this and preview the clips, the video scrambles into this rainbow of pixels (but the songs play exactly as I want them to). The moment I remove the additional audio I added, the video returns to normal.

Am I doing something wrong or is this the result of using the trial version? I really like the product otherwise, but wouldn't purchase it if I can't resolve this problem.

I hope someone can help. Thanks!!!

I tried doing what you said you did (am also using the trial version of MF4) and my video did not break up or change. The preview was normal. I think you must have some kind of conflicting program or device problem creating this effect. I'm not sure how you would troubleshoot what it might be, however. Make sure you have all the requirements for the program.

I downloaded the trial version of DVD Workshop and set it up exactly the same as I did in MF4 and it worked beautifully! I'm not sure why MF4 is giving me a hard time but I wish it would work because DVD Workshop is $$$!!!

And, as far as I can tell, DVD workshop does not have that many more capabilities than MF4. Why don't you try a complete uninstall and reinstall. Maybe something went wrong with your first attempt.

I think the problem may have been that I didn't remove the original sound file when I added the MP3 over the film. The bitrate was probably way too high because it was playing the original and additional sound at the same time.
