Setting up for Surround Sound?

Post by ejskater16 »

Hi,

I'm making a video (will be on DVD) for someone, and I have some questions about setting it up on my computer so that it will play and sound as good as it can!

He has a pretty fancy TV, I don't have the specifics, but he also has surround sound. I've heard bits and pieces on this board (and other MSP message boards) about encoding surround sound audio... maybe something about AC3? All of this makes no sense to me, and I am just wondering, is there something I do in Video Editor or in MovieFactory 2 when getting ready to burn, that will just make the sound better for (his surround sound) it?

I hope that I haven't been too confusing , hard to understand , or anything like that, and if anyone can help me out, I would really appreciate it!

Thanks,

ERIK

MSP only creates 2 channel(stereo) AC3, the only option you have is for the bitrate. Higher bitrate means better quality depending on your source.

If by surround you mean 5.1 AFAIK the only 5.1 support Ulead provides for creating DVD's is within DVDWS but you need a DVD compliant 5.1 audio file. You can't create one. If you already have a 5.1 audio file you can import it into DVDWS and select the do not convert compliant files option and it will burn it as is.
