Created DVD works first time, then starts freezing up

I spent a lot of time getting a video the way I wanted it, then I put it on a Imation DVD-R. When I play it on my DVD player, it worked the first time. Then on subsequent plays, it works a while, then freezes. It seems that each time I play it, it works less. Is there a particular brand or type of DVD I should use? Note that I did try the DVD on multiple DVD players - same result. My DVD player is a pretty good quality. I'm using Video Studio 9 to create.

I use Verbatim DVD-R 8x and don't have any playback problems.
