Video Capture Card or Device for VS and MF

Post by crestonave2007 »

Can someone suggest a good video capture card or external capture device that I can use with either or both of the above programs? I'm planning to put all my old VHS and Hi8 analog movies on DVD. I'll be using a VHS VCR and a Hi8 VCR. I'll be burning the DVD's wtih a Lightscribe DVD RW burner.

I was happy to find an answer to my question re the difference between MF and VS on the board. Very helpful, thanks!

If it's quality you want look at either of the canopus range of goods, advc external http://www.canopus.com/products/videoconversion.php or they do internal cards.

Connect to pc via firewire, capture as dv.avi, easily edited, high quality, audio and video locked.

If it's cheap you want then I'll leave others to give options, but I wouldn't use anything else for treasured memories.

The Adstech DX2 captures high quality mpeg-2 using an on-board chip. It costs under US$100... The downside is that you have to capture using its own software (CapWiz) and then open the captured video in VS to edit it. However, CapWiz does a good job of the capturing...
