sound in video file automatically rendered to mp3
I think I have the same problem.
On my time line the audio appears to have been rendered as mp3. However this was done by VideoStudio when I imported the video from DVD.
I can hear the clip in "clip" mode, but not when in "project" mode
Also the wav shows as a straight line - what is interesting is that when I firsat imported the clip, this showed as a normal wave line which then "degraded" to a straight line.
btw I can't do the import from DVD again as my colleague sat on the disc and cracked it! (Cracked as in broke in half!)
hmmm

What version of VS? This is strange, VS will use either MPEG, Dolby, or PCM, not mp3. Further mp3 does not meet DVD specs, so the mp3 did not come off the DVD, and when inserting a DVD into VS, it does nothing to the audio. Did you by chance rip the DVD using some other application?
Try choosing Share>Create Sound File, and export the audio to a wav file. Test this in a audio player to see if you have all the audio. If so re-insert this into VS.

In this post http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... 365#143365 you posted the properties to your video files, and the audio is not mp3, but Dolby Digital Audio, which is a lot different than mp3. For DVDs, the MPEG audio Layer2 is used. MP3 is basically an MPEG video file without the video. There are no set standards for mp3. Video editors will often choke on mp3, because of the way it may have been compressed, the editor will look for the video and not being able to find it in the file, refuses to play it.
With the full versions (not trial) Dolby should not be a problem. They do not include the Dolby audio codec with trial versions due to licensing restrictions.
