Upgrading from VideoStudio 9 to MediaStudio 8 Pro

Post by auntisocial »

Hi! I am new to this forum and am posting here because I am having a difficult time getting information elsewhere. I have been using VideoStudio 9 for years now and for Christmas I get to upgrade to some new software!

I read in the FAQ that as a registered owner of VideoStudio 9 I am eligible to upgrade to MediaStudio Pro 8, but I'm unable to find out how to do this. The ordering options only allow downloads that upgrade from earlier MediaStudio versions.

I have searched the Corel Knowledgebase and also contacted Customer Service but have received no response. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you in advance for your help.

I don't know if VS 9 really qualifies for an upgrade to MediaStudioPro. As far as I know, you need to own a previous version of MSP to qualify for the upgrade. Check this out: http://www.ulead.com/msp/sn_form_msp_esd.htm

Those webpages do confuse people don't they..:)
What I would do is contact Corel, and provide them with the page indicating that VS qualifies for an upgrade, and demand that price. After all they are advertising that it does.

My opinion is they should have removed that page long ago, if it is outdated. Worth a shot isn't it?

Yes, I do believe it is worth a shot. :D I have tried contacting them but so far have received no response. I might just have to try again. 8)

I'm also very confused by the special holiday offering of Quartet (with a lot of other software thrown in), but no link to purchase it. LOL

Just be aware that MSP appears to be on it's way out and won't be supported by Corel, so no product updates in the future. So make sure you don't update your machine to Vista or buy a HDV camcorder.

Update: I contacted Corel and they did INDEED let me upgrade from VideoStudio 9 to MSP8. Thanks for the suggestion, Vidoman. Even though it looks like MSP won't be updated I decided that for the ugrade price it would be worth having it for now.
