Record Straight To Disk - Have I missed something ?

Post by DB83 »

Aplogies if this has been answered elsewhere. I did do a search

MSP7 is my tool of choice for capturing/editing. DVDWS is my tool of choice for authoring.

Yet I also have a dvd-recorder which allows me to do instant recordings to disk.

So when I saw that DVDMF offered the same, and using DVD -VR format which is the same as my standalone, ths would be ideal for a one-click alternative.

Hmmn. Slammed in the dvd -R disk and fired up DVDMF6. The program offers dvd-video and dvd +VR methods. Ok, since I do not have a dvd +R disk in the burner I will go for a dvd-video disk.

Click on record to disk (think that is what it said) but there is no sign of life from the burner. In fact what the program does is capture to the hard drive and when the capture is complete it burns the disk. Not exactly "straight to disk" is it.

So the question is. Have I missed something. Can the program do what it preports to do.

1. Use a DVD -VR disk
2. Actually burn 'straight to disk' rather than perform intermediate processes.

Just to self-answer part of my question, I now see no point in trying to use a dvd -R disk to make a VR compatable file - the stand-alone will not recognise the disk.

Record on the stand-alone and the PC will read it. But copy that disk - the PC will still read it but not the stand-alone.

Have not tried yet using "Straight To Disk" with a dvd - RW
