Hi,
The items of a motion menu always start playing at the very beginning of the concerning video-clip, even if I set it to start at another point in the movie. Anyone else experiencing this?

Motion menu shows first 30 seconds of each menu-item, anyway

Hi,
Thanks for the reply... I have MF4, but haven't used it yet. So I guess I have to start playing around with it. Still odd that the option is in VS9, but not working. It's not very clear from the UI that this is just for still images (haven't tried that one, but that always worked in VS8).

Brian,
As I may not have been very clear in my starting post, just to be clear... I would like each preview in the motion menu to start at an exact point in the linked movie. When clicked on the preview in the menu, the connecting movie should start from the beginning.
I mean, that always worked for still images as well, one could pick an image from any point in the movie and have that as a thumb in the menu. The movie would then indeed start at the beginning when clicked on the thumb.
Anyway, it's not that important
It's just that I normally have my movies fade in from black and now in the motion menu it means that every 30 secs all thumbs go to black, which does not look smooth. I'll see if MF4 supports what I would like to see.

After editing my video footage with Video Studio, I use DVD Workshop to create the DVD itself.
I too like to have motion clips on my menus that point to somewhere other than the very start of the film (with the fading in etc) and also motion clips other than thumbnail representations of the sub-menus.
I achieve this by creating the DVD and including underneath (or alongside) the motion clip, a text link.
I then create the DVD burning it to the hard drive. I then use another piece of software called Menuedit to remove the "Motion buttons".

This leaves the motion thumbnails in place but they can no longer be selected. All your navigation is done via the text only links.
Using this method I have made several very pleasing menu's.
