I have some HD video clips that I would like to try posting on my website in Flash in High Def. I'm using VS 11 Plus and Flash 8 Pro.
Here are the original clip settings.
Format NTSCHDMV
Video Type H.264 Video, Upper Field First
Attributes 24bits, 1440x1080, 16:9
Frame rate 29.97 fps
Data Rate Var. Max. 16,000
What I've done so far is as follows, and I have not tried importing the finished video into Flash yet.
New Project settings.
NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
MPEG files
24 bits, 1440 x 1080, 29.97 fps
Upper Field First
(MPEG-2), 16:9
Should Frame Type be set to Frame-Based since this is for online use?
After adding a clip to the timeline and saving the .vsp files I go to "Share>HDV>HDV 720P-30P (for PC)
This is rendered and saved by default as a .mpg file which I will then import to Flash...I hope! Hate to sound stupid, but it wouldn't be the first time. How do I know if this is still High Def? I really do not understand much about the rendering/conversion process...obviously. The finished .mpg file plays fine on my PC.
If anyone has any thoughts/correction/etc... I would appreciate it greatly.

Hi David,
I haven't used Adobe's Flash program, so I'm not sure how it will behave. However for the most part, you should use Frame based, since it is going to be viewed on the internet.
The frame rate is generally 30fps, since your video files are NTSC, there's not enough difference to be concerned about.
Bandwidth is something to consider, when determining the frame size for your flash video. The larger the frame size, the larger the files, and the more bandwidth it will consume. Most use a frame size of 640 x 480.
Hope that helps...
PS, great videos and pictures on your site. Wished I had the time, and was in a location that provided such beautiful scenery.
Merry Christmas, and have a safe, prosperous New Year..

Hello Vidoman,
Thanks for the reply, the info and for the compliments on my work. The video aspect is strictly for fun and documentation. I hope to get several more clips posted to go along with so text. That's the plan anyway.
Take care and Merry Christmas to you as well!
