Error encountered after Instillation

Post by 5_Fathom_Bank »

After finishing a complete Instillation of
* VideoStudio 11 Plus
* PhotoImpact 12
* Photo Explorer 8.6
* COOL 360 &
* GIF Animator 5
in that order completing each correctly without any errors what-so-ever & installing the appropriate Update, after Re-booting I was greeted with an Open Folder Window displaying the following address.
* C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead
I have closed it down but each & every reboot it re-opens once I or any other person Logs in.

I have gone through my Registry file judiciously searching for that lead and only one is displayed showing
* C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead\Common\Bin\uAgentService.dll
That file does exist and its Date, Time, File Size is
* 11/May/2006 ?3:25pm ~ 68KB
I understand that if an entry in the Registry File is missing the "Quotes" around it this will cause the problem, however there is no immediate file at the Ulead Directory that the system is calling for that would be causing this as I see it. Additionally, the above file is the only one in the Ulead?Directory, all the other Ulead Dynamic Link Library files are in
* C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems

I have checked the following entries for any peculiarities and found none.
* msconfic ~ Startup ~ All files that are listed.

Within the Registry File
* HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Runonce
* HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\Run
* HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
* HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\Run
* HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogin
* HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
* HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce

Within the Startup Folders for each & All users.
* %systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
* %systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\username\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

With all that now covered, is there any other area that I should be looking at or has something that I supposedly installed correctly, didn't.

The easy way possibly is to just uninstall, but that may still not identify the problem or even rectify it & if others may ever encounter this then it needs to be recognized and resolved.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

With thanks & Best Wishes on this Christmas Eve

Merry Christmas..:)

That is a real pain in the... well you know...;)

Ulead PI and PhotoExplorer use a little thorn in the side utility called Ulead AutoDetector. Do you notice a small icon that looks like a magnifying glass, in the Task Bar? Mouse over it, and it should say Ulead Auto Detector. Right-click on this icon, choose Options. In the Options dialog, look in the bottom right corner. There is a checkbox, probably with a check in it, that says Run AutoDetector when windows starts up. Uncheck that box, click OK.

Now right-click again on that same icon, and choose Disable Ulead AutoDetector, and Close.

Should go away now...;)

Vidoman,
Excellent, has done the trick. Annoyed with myself as I had opened it, read it & closed it off without trying that.

Thanks again, presents are under the tree for all & it's time for bed for myself, 1:20am Christmas morning. Will be 39C here in Perth today, so we are all heading down to the beach for the early part then home around 11:00am before the heat sets in for the festive day.

Hope your's will be great, again thanks.
