Final Audio Levels

Post by boxy »

Since my originals have a wide variety of audio levels I'm wondering if there is a guide of some sort I can use to set the levels and have a uniform volume for all finished products. Thanks.

Use the normalize filter, or in the burning stage select normalize audio.

or alternatively

Or alternatively export your audio track and open it with the FREE audio editor Audacity and use its powerful editing options to normalize the audio track, save it and then import it back into VideoStudio replacing your existing audio track.

Thanks for that response, sjj!

I tried the normalizer. Unfortunately it made the signal too hot and some distortion was present. I'm not saying the audio I tried it on is the cleanest to start with, either, so maybe I'll try it again on another project and see what happens.

Which one did you use, the normalize filter or normalize at the burn stage? The way I understand it is, say you have a video with two songs - if you use the normalize filter on each one it will normalize each song indivudually, because you are only applying that filter to the individual clips. If you use normalize at the burn stage it will normalize your project as a whole.

Please correct me if I am wrong. :?

Thanks, Black Lab for that explanation. I have 14 videos on a burned disc and I did use the finalized normalization and audio levels that are all over the place.

In the future, I will be sure to normalize the audio when I render.

Thanks,

Aunti
