rendering format for Flash export?

Post by westlight »

I'm posting several videos on my website and have decided to do so using Flash. All seems to be going well but I'm wondering if I'm rendering my original project file correctly before importing it to Flash.

This is my process. Open my project into Timeline, then>Share>Create Video File>WMV>wmv Zune 640x480, 30 fps. After that I just import the finished file into Flash. Seems fine but am wondering if I should render to a different format before importing to Flash.

The Project settings were set at Upper Field First to match the original capture. Seems I read a post where the correct setting for online viewing is "Fame-Base". Is this true? I took the third project, saved it under a different name then changed my project settings to Frame-Base before rendering as described above. That video clip is the last of the three at the link below.

The videos can be seen at this link. I am very much in the beginning stages of this page layout so keep that in mind.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Not sure if any of this helps but...

Original capture was on a Canon HG10 @ 24 bits, 1440X1080, 16:9, 29.97 fps, Upper Field First, Date Rate (Max 16,000)

I've settled on saving the file to DV specifications. I've had the flash video encoder cause sync issues in the past using compressed formats.
Now using Adobe Premiere and Photoshop

If your video will only be seen on a pc (or LCD or plasma tv, for that matter) then you will want to render to frame based. If there is a chance it will be watched on a regular tv then you should render to upper or lower field first, depending upon the source footage.

Awesome videos, by the way. 8)
