volume overload when capturing with Movie Wizard (VS 9)

Post by rayk »

I purchased a Video Grabber to
transfer my VCR taped videos to
digital. They included Video Studio 9
in the package.
But I get huge volume overload
when I try to capture videos from
VCR or TV.
There do not seem to be any audio filters
involved in this capture option
Is there ANY WAY I can handle the
the volume input from my VCR to
the capture?

Thanks

I assume you are talking about some branded Video Grabber device (such as the D-Link Video Grabber), rather than the software program which is called Video Grabber and is mainly used to capture streaming video from the web (like You Tube in .flv format)...

If so, we need information as to what format you have set it to capture in. If it is .avi, then it will be the true, raw i.e. uncompressed .avi which produces absolutely huge files -- 65 GB for one hour of video. This could easily be creating a 'volume overload' on your computer.

If that is the case, then select another capture format. Mpeg-2 is common and moreover can usually then be burned directly to DVD...

I'm going to assume that when you say "huge volume overload" you mean volume as in loud, not volume as in quantity/size. Goto Start-Control Panel-Sounds and Audio Devices-Audio Tab-Sound Recording Volume and lower the appropriate slider volume. Now when you capture, the audio won't be so loud. I recommend capturing just a short clip to make sure the audio levels are what you're looking for. It may take multiple adjustments to get what you want.
