Your version is more than likely an SE Special Edition, we refer to them as Simple Editions, or quite possibly a VE Video Edition. It may not allow burning DVDs. They are bundled with hardware or found in various magazine covers. The hardware manufacturer most of the time, tweaks the program to work best with their hardware. As stated previously, some features and functions are disabled in these free applications.

There intent is to let you try the program to see if you like it enough to buy it.

I'm guessing that you do have a DVD burner, and may have some other software for creating DVDs. If so you can Create Video files with your VS8, then import them into your DVD authoring program.

FWIW, the current release is VS11 / VS11+. You can download a 30-day trial version to see if you would want to purchase it.

Your VS8 version does qualify for the upgrade price.

Let me guess, your using a MOV file format, from a digital still camera? I know Kodak has this issue with it's MOV video format.

You might try this fix provided by Member Bill, bsuthers:

I have not gone to where you told me to yet, but I will, you are exactly right, I do have a kodak digital camera on my computer. Thank you very much for your kind assistance, at least I know where to start.
