Movie Wizard

Post by beachbumfromoz »

I am in the process of putting a DVD together of a recent holiday.

When I use movie wizard I insert movie files using the "Inset Video" tab on the 1st screen, then click next.

The next section is "Theme Template".

I have created my own intro & outro, so it's this section that I want bypass/continue from without a template, but cant see how to do it.

Can I do it? and how is it done?

Many thanks in advance :)

For Home Movie theme templates, scroll down to the bottom. You should see about 4 boxes, all having the filmstrip icon. Select the last one, Straight cut. No template is applied. You can even uncheck the Background music.

If you don't want to use templates, why bother with the Wizards? Go straight into the Editor. You can insert your video and image clips from there too. :)

Hi there, thanks for helping out.

Under "Home Movie" in theme templates I have 4 options

Multioverlay track03
Multioverlay track04
General 12

I dont have one called "straight cut" :(

Also, when you talk about going straight into editor, I am at the creating DVD (burning) stage of my project....(didnt clarify that in my 1st post sorry)....so I need to do this part in movie wizard right???

Cheers

Ok, I see.. I thought you were referring to the Movie Wizard, which is where you build your video.

The templates in the DVD authoring module, do not have the Straight Cut option.

When you refer to Intro and Outro, are these short video clips? If so, then place your "intro" clip at the very front, check the box beside Use first clips as introductory video.

If that's not one of the issues, then as far as a background video or image for your menu, you need to select one. However you can make your own, or use any image or video for that. I don't see a way of just skipping it though.

For example I used PI, and just created a gradient filled image. Saved it as a .png. In the Edit tab, selected the Background image/video, and inserted that gradient image.

If that's not what you're referring to, can you please clarify your intro/outro and how you are wanting to use them?

If you're wanting to use one of your intro/outro as the background, then click on the Edit tab, located to the right of the Gallery. Look for the Background image/video, and press the rectangle icon to its left. Then choose the menu option, Select a background image or background video for this menu. Browse to where your video or image is located on your system, select it, click open. It will insert this as the background image/video for the menu.

Hi there again :D

Ok, will explain this the best I can.

Recently had a holiday in Sinagpore and with all the video & photos we took used Ulead VS 11 Plus to put a DVD together. From past experiences I have found that doing sections at a time (say 5-10 mins) then exporting to mpeg (these I call my final movies) ready to then create the DVD.

So now I have a number of mpeg files including intro & outro that I am ready to put on DVD disc.

From here I open the movie wizard part of VS 11+ then add all these mpeg files, then click next. Here I reach "theme template" and I dont see the option "Use first clips as introductory video". I see the 4 home movie template options, the check box for background music, setting duration and marking clips. Clicking the "next" button takes me to the screen for creating video file or disc.

Not sure if I am doing something wrong or maybe there's a simpler program to use to have all these mpegs burnt to DVD in a format that will play in most DVD players.

Really appreciate the help you have given vidoman.

I have never used either of the Wizards so I can't help you there. I am also struck by the fact that I have no clear idea what precisely you mean by 'intro and outro' -- the latter in particular...!

However, if the mpegs are ready to burn to disc, and that is all you want to do, then ignore the Wizards. Instead, open the main editing program. However, do no more than select Share, then Create Disc > DVD. The burning module will then open with an empty timeline. You add media by selecting the, well, ADD MEDIA button up top. Here (I imagine) you would insert first your Intro (I assume it is a video clip of some kind).

Just above and to the left of the burning timeline, you will see a check box, and for you it contains (I think!) the magic words 'Use first clip as introductory video' i.e. what I take to be your intro. Then you insert all your other clips in the order you want ending, I imagine, with your "outro" (
  ). You can, on the next page, then select your menu templates (if you want them). If you want no menus, then click the Edit tab on the second page, then the Advanced button and de-select the menus. Preview, then burn. Voilà!!!

My intro & outro....pretty much as in a movie, intro to introduce the DVD and outro like credits......but your reply is most helpful to me, I didnt realise I could do the whole lot in editing so will give that a bash and let you know how I got on.

Thanks heaps

Well. hopefully something positive will happen!

As for 'outro', yours was the very first time I have ever heard the term, which was why I was somewhat confused... I thought the term a little, well... outré!! 8)

hehehehehehe

Maybe the term is more musical (being a drummer & all) lol

Problem all sorted now, just did a test run with a few of the files.

Thanks heaps for all the input.
