Hi

What do you mean by halfway. Halfway doing what????????? Rendering the video file or burning a disc??????????

This relates to the burner module:-
When you Share Create Disc and Add a video file, there should be No further rendering of the video file.
But you will render the Menu structure, which may take some time depending on which menu¡¦s you have chosen.

To identify if the main video is being rendered:-

VS 9 after pressing Burn you should not see the info window ¡¥This action will take some time¡K¡K¡K

Using VS 10 you will see this info window, but the first ¡¥convert¡¦ should be ¡¥Menu¡¦ (see the blue progress bar)
If you see ¡¥Convert Title¡¦ then you are rendering the main Video.
Some of your settings are incorrect.

Assuming you do Not see the above and the burn is failing then try a burn without menu¡¦s.

Ps create a TS folder or Iso file rather than burning a disc, that will save a disc or two.

Really not wanting to drag this one out much longer..honest..but i ask the questions so at least for them next time...

You mentioned halfway though...I meant at some point in the create disk option it freezes...whether its early on or later on....saying that have managed to burn all the copies i now need..so hence time to play and mess around with the thing!

Curious here...i burnt a copy - in my usual long winded way - movie in timeline, create chapters, create menu etc..takes roughly 2hrs to burn...NOW, once done...i then simply pressed the burn button again....this time it only took 40minutes to burn...checked the quality on my tv..and to my eye at least...couldnt tell the difference...again...burnt another disk this way...again took 40minutes ( most of the time spent seemed to be the actual copying x2.4 or x4 to the disk )..and again i could see any deteriation in the quality...even the menu titles seemed ok.

So QUESTION, am i losing quality doing it this way? Just would take 10 copies before i start noticing?

Basically, no matter how hard ive tried..i dont understand this saving and opening and saving again...even when editing a project in VS..for some reason i have it in my mind im losing something everytime i save....i know about jpeg and giff etc..and lossless....but - for the next time i create a project - is it ok to keep saving..must be a hangup of mine from the ole' video days..copying from s-vhs-c and seeing half your quality disappear with every copy!

Hi

When we capture, our video file is saved to the Working Folder.

When we edit the video clip we are editing a thumbnail, a virtual clip representing the file in the working folder.

Cutting the clip adding transitions etc does not affect the captured file.

We can save the project as many times as we like, no quality loss. We are editing a project not the captured file.

Burn a disc

In order to burn a disc VS must have a compatible Mpeg file.

This is created by Share Create Video File, selecting the appropriate template.
Then used by us to burn a disc. (this is the recommended procedure.)
OR
Share Create Disc, here VS will create the Mpeg for you. A temporary mpeg file being saved to the Burner Working Folder. The temp file being used to burn the disc. (your method)
This file may be used several times to create additional discs.
When you close the burner module the file may be deleted. Further burns will create the same file again. (this is just a waste of time.)

Any quality loss will be during the render process creating the mpeg.

Throughout all this work the original captured file is unchanged, as good as when captured.
