VideoStudio 8: DirectShow video engine failure

Post by Dan43 »

I am currently having problems playing back my project to get an idea on how it looks. Every time I press the play button while I have selected project rather than clip, an error occurs. It says that the directshow video engine failed to be used. No audio hardware is available, or the hardware is not responding.

Now, I have read around the forums and seen that there have been no previous solutions while running Vista. I was hoping, and hopefully not in vain, that some sort of fix has occurred. If not, I would greatly appreciate any suggestions as to what I should move to, I really don't want to lay down more money for another program, but I guess if I have to, no other option left, now is there?

A side note to consider: I did really only hope that there would be some sort of fix as the previous case of the directshow video engine was with VS 9 and not VS 8.

There is no difference in the DSW between VS8 and 9. VS 8 definitely will not run on Vista.

Alright, well, thanks anyways. I am glad for the quick reply. Guess this means I should go up to VS 11.

Your system specs say you're running XP, are you trying to run VS9 on a Vista system?
