Advice needed on VS11+ upgrade from VS10+

Post by tommytucker »

I have been using VS10+ and watching this board on comments on frustration with 11+, powerpacks, issues, etc. I just got a 7 day deal notice on upgrading to 11+ for $39.95 from Corel. I have been thinking of just waiting for 12 to come out, but since the regular upgrade at Corel and Ulead sites shows $59.95, I was wondering....are there enough good features to 11+ to make an upgrade for $39 worth it? Thanks for your opinion on this.

Unless you are running Vista, need to work a lot with HD video using the AVCHD codec, the only difference between VS10+ and 11+ is that with VS11+ you can cut your clips on the overlay tracks, and you can expand the time-line view, and still see your preview window.

VS11 does provide some more samples, templates, but other than what I mentioned above there is not any major change in them.

Oh, and you would lose the ability to insert a .vob file into the timeline which VS10 has...

Advice needed on VS11+ upgrade from VS10+

Post by joosuna »

Tommytucker...vidoman brought up a good point on one of the advantages of upgrading to VS11+...you can edit-cut the clips in the overlay tracks. I find this feature very useful, because my projects involve two and three camera shots. I can synchronize all three camera shoots and edit them in the overlay tracks. Big time saver for me.

I was wondering, is it possible to have both versions loaded on the same computer. I have 10+ in pretty good shape, but just grabbed 11+ on a deal, so before I un-install 10, I thought I would ask, anybody have both versions running?

I don't think you can have them both running at the same time, but both installed is not a problem.

Tommytucker...blacklab is correct that having two different versions in your computer is not a problem. I always leave my old version on the computer and test the new version. I usually leave my old version on the computer, in case the new version crashes..and can not be repaired
