Can i rip a song from my burned dvd

Post by mamamichigan »

Hi. I burned a movie that had a song on it that i need now. Is there any way to rip a song off of a movie you have burned already? And how do i save the song, i would like to use it in another movie. Thank you.

Sure, you can do that!

I can't give you step-by-step instructions, but you need to Import the DVD (audio & video), then go to Share and create an audio file.

Since this is DVD, the audio and video are mixed together into one stream. You will need to separate them. To do this, in VS, use the Insert Video>DVD/DVD-VR or AVCHD menu command. Import your video to the timeline.

Then right-click on the video and select Split Audio. Now delete the video track. If you have more than one song on the audio track, locate the one that you want to reuse, and cut the clip at the end. Delete the unwanted part.

Now go to Share>Create Sound file. Save As WAV, give it a name, and viola, you can now insert this into your new project..;)

Ron, I don't think you have to even split the audio from the video. Just trim the clip and export to a sound file.
