Permanently disable "device control"

Post by jader »

When doing quite a bit of passthrough capturing/editing, I'm finding that I constantly have to go in and change my device control to "None", so that initiating a capture doesn't signal my camcorder to start playing my DV tape. Is there a way to permanently disable this so that it doesn't keep going back to trying to start/stop my DV tape?

Thanks in advance.

Would be good to know which program you are talking about... I presume it's Video Studio but I have learnt a long time ago never to presume.

You could simply take the tape out of your camera also. At least that is what I do.

Since you're having a problem with VS 11, capturing using the pass-through without a tape See this Thread, Iwould say that you will need to set the capture device to none.
Does your camcorder have a setting in it's menu for A/V-DV Out? If so you need to set it to On. I know my camcorder, Sony DCR-TRV 120, to use the Pass-through I must set it to on, and remove the tape. With a tape inserted it over-rides the Pass-through.

Thanks for the responses. I seem to have been able to get it working by ejecting the tape after it's recognized the pass-through. Not sure if it's luck though, or if that will always work for me. So far so good though.

Thanks again.
