VS11 chokes on subtitle import

Post by lazael »

Probably my first and last project using Videostudio. Too difficult . Back to MSP8 and Moviefactory6 for me. VS is pure pain when it comes to cutting out single / duplicate frames that result when TV stations repeat a few frames after a commercial break, etc. I'll miss the de-snow filter, but not the whole project recoding :x when doing minor edits though. MSP only does the "changed bits".

Anyway, has anyone else had any problems importing Subtitle (*.srt) Files after the Upgrade and Powerpack installation ?
VS takes more than 5 minutes to load the file. Playng it another 5, going to the share stage another, and then the inevitable crash upon trying to burn ( after a another long delay of course  ). Choosing a simpler font makes no difference.

Moviefactory imports the subtitle no problem, but I would have liked to try the subtitle editing feature of VS ( which MF6 does not have ).

I only have 512M of RAM, but as recent thread http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=27752 in the MSP forum shows, more RAM may not be a solution. VS's spec. says it is ok.

This only relates to your first para -- I have no experience with .srt files, so cannot help you there.

But I am surprised that you find VS hard than its much more complex older brother MSP!! What problems exactly are you having cutting out frames? Have you not expanded the timeline to a frame by frame basis where you can cut out specific frames?

As for a full recode, rather than just doing the "changed bits" as you call them, do you not have SmartRender enabled? That is specifically what ensures only the "changed bits" are in fact re-encoded and the rest is left alone...

Are you saying you also have a problem importing sub titles - or do you have some other problem?
