I'm using MPEG2 files I'm creating in a different pgm to create HD-DVD discs on DL DVDs. I'm wondering what specifications I would need so that the Do not convert compliant MPEG files option will work so it doesn't take HOURS to create a disc.
Currently my MPEG2 files come out from the other program as:
Video
MPEG2 video upper field first
24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 16:9
29.970 frames/sec
Variable bit rate (max 40000kbps)
Audio
MPEG audio layer 2
48000Hz, 16bit stereo
224 kbps data rate
Thanks!
How to not convert compliant MPEG files for HD-DVD
Re: How to not convert compliant MPEG files for HD-DVD
For HD-DVD, try lowering the bitrate to <= 29400kbpssnelldl wrote:I'm using MPEG2 files I'm creating in a different pgm to create HD-DVD discs on DL DVDs. 29400kbps will give you nice looking material that plays on PC with PDVD_Ultra. Toshiba player will choke on this however. Due to firmware restrictions or lack of bandwidth. Take your pick.snelldl wrote:I'll give it a shot! Thanks
My experience is 20000kbps or lower. Anything above produces lots of expensive coasters on DVD-R/DL media. 25000kbps seems to be limit for DVD-R media.
Witek.
If you are producing material for your own or family enjoyment any workaround is fine. But if you distribute to others any slowness and stuttering is not acceptable.snelldl wrote:Actually I have an A20 which I upgraded to the latest firmware from November and it plays back fine. The one I tested was a high school basketball game and the only problem was that at first there was some slowness. But by just pausing and playing again it seemed to fix it.
It took me long enough to explain to some which side of DVD is up!!! Now I need to tell them that once disc starts stuttering they need to hit PAUSE/PLAY
"HD Rec" was ratified in November. Lets hope software developers jump on it and produce software that can author playable material.
