Quick Audio ?

Post by dabear »

I have no idea where to post this

There is this site that has this song that opens in real player and I can save the file as a "Internet recording" But I would like to transfer it into an mp3 so I can hear it on a cd and edit with the song.

What do you guy suggest for me to do with these "Internet recordings" what should i transfer the song with. Or is there some thing off the net i should use to get the music in the first place?

I use Audacity - it allows me to capture/save audio streamed from the Internet with Windows Media Player or RealPlayer (or any other audio application). Once the file has been captured, it can be exported in WAV, MP3, OGG, and many other formats for use in other applications.

Great tool - and it's open source, so it's free. It might even handle your "Internet Recording" format, but one would have to try it to find out.

I tried Audacity but I can't inport the file into it. I might have to record the sound i guess and make mp3s that way.

Just wondering if there is an easy way of doing this that i dont know about

Have you tried searching Google for a conversion program?
If not then looks like you may have to play it on your computer and at the same time record it with Audacity or Messer.

what's the file's extension? That will help you to find a conversion program.

That's all it says is "internet recording" But when you click to hear the audio off the website it loads up windows media or real player. With real player i can hit the record button and thats how i got the "internet recordings" on the pc in the 1st place.

I think Audacity might be what it takes.

I think you will find it has a RM extension. You need to look at the file in Windows Explorer.

That's all it says is "internet recording"
In the task bar go to 'Tools>Folder Options...'
Then click on the 'View' tab
Then uncheck the box next to 'Hide extensions for known file types'

Now the filename will have a little 3 letter extension after it, preceeded by a period (.)

This extension tells you exactly what kind of file format it is. Once you know this format, you know what you are looking for in a conversion program.

If it is an FLV, the audio most likely uses mp3.

Is it a video or is it an audio file?
I'm sure I have found coverters out there that will convert a flv to an avi. Then drop the avi on your timeline, and create and audio file.
Burn file to cd, enjoy.
