How to edit video on 2 PC's, Can't find my library clips

Post by westlight »

I'm working on one video and have many edited clips stored in different libraries I've created, Polar Bear 1, Polar Bear 2, etc... I can open the .vsp "project" file on both computers and the clips that I've inserted into the timeline appear but my different libraries do not appear. The video project file and all the original video clips are stored on a portable hard drive, and the drive letter is the same when connected to either PC. Are "libraries" that we create stored somewhere else, perhaps on the C: drive where the program files are installed. I also tried saving the project file using the "Smart Package" feature with the same results. I hate to have to import and re-edit 6 hours of original video. Perhaps I'm stuck just working on this project with one PC?

Thanks for any suggestions!

David

Please click here --> Image so that we can then view your system specifications. You also need to let us know which version of VideoStudio you have.

The location of your library files varies according to whether you have XP or Vista installed.

XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\(Version number)

Vista:
C:\Users\Stephen\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\(Version number)

Replace Stephen with your Windows User name.

Sorry about the lack of information. I hit the post button too quickly.
I'm using VideoStudio 11 v. 11.5.0157.1 PLUS

I filled out the PC information in my profile. I hope that is viewable to you.

Not exactly sure on the Motherboard but it is an ASUS. Hope that helps.

Thanks,

David

Hi
Just a little to add to Steves info

The library files are called

VS_Video.dat
VS_Image.dat etc.

Copy these files to the other pc.
It may be wise to make a copy of the originals, just in case you need to replace them

Hope this Helps

Thanks Trevor,

I'll give that a try. I was hoping somehow the imported "custom" libraries would somehow be embedded in the .vsp file. That would be too easy.

Take care,
David
