I am a PhotoImpact 12 user and have been a Ulead Photoimpact user for several years.
Since Ulead is now Corel, I was wondering if anyone has tries out Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2.
It appears that Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2, is what will represent Corel's top Photo editing software.
Does anyone have any thoughts about comparisons to PhotoImpact 12 to Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 ??
Thanks,
Jon

In case you haven't noticed, this is a forum for Ulead PhotoImpact, not Corel PSP.
You can be forgiven for thinking that this is a Corel forum but it did start out with Ulead. Corel just put their name to it when they took over. That doesn't make every user automatically a user of other Corel products.
I would advise you not to get disappointed if there isn't much advice forthcoming.

Corel PSP would be of no use to me at all.
It does not support the UFO file format which is essential when creating purpose built DVD Menus from scratch.

I just visited the Corel Websight and noticed a couple of things.
1. Corel seems to be pushing PSP-X2 while Ulead products are almost invisible. Perhaps this will change with the release of PhotoImpact X3 when Ulead offers the newest product rather than JASC.
2. I also see that they are pushing their own product Corel Painter Essentials. And, while it is a good product, it is much more limited in scope the PhotoImpact. Painter Essentials attempts to simulate the use of a natural painting medium allowing you to mix paint swabs together on a pallete and giving you painting tools that look like watercolor or oil painting. However, it would be very difficult to use Painter to corect a small imperfection in a photograph. The natural painting technology would make the correction look like an oil painting brush stroke and the rest of it would look like a photograph.
3. I certainly hope that Corel gets behind the Ulead brand when the new PhotoImpact comes out. Right now they are treating it like the unwanted and unloved stepson.
At least that's what it looks like to me
