I have added a video to the overlay track. I am using the fade-in and fade-out buttons, but would like to control the length of the fades. Can this be done? If so, how can it be done?
I am also interested in detailed help files for VideoStudio 11. Do they exist and how can I access them?
Thank you for your time.
VideoStudio 11 - Unable to control overlay fade - HELP!

I'm new here but I can answer this!
There are two triangles beneath the jog slider and they control the amount of time your effect will last.
Click on the overlay clip. Use your mouse to slide them to a spot that will dictate the fade start and finish. A couple of tries and you should get the hang of it.
If you have the PDF Users Guide look on the top of page 83 for an illustration.

If you are using only the trial version, the Help files are not included (counter-intuitively in my opinion) for space reasons. However, you can download the full manual from the Ulead.com site by selecting, from across the top of the main web page, Download > Product Documents, and follow the links...

Oh good somebody else is having this similar problem - the little 'triangles' mentioned by 'boxy' to my editing works only with the audio of clip or with overlay soundtracks.
Unable to fade in or out for individual video clips - instead I import two 'coloured image' usually black between the video clip that I want the fades to happen and use transitional effects in between to make it look interesting.
JG, if you manage to be able to do what boxy mentioned with the use of those 'triangles'- pray tell - then I will know that I am making some error in my editing/highlighting frames!

I may be wrong but i think 'boxy' is refering to the 'Overlay Tracks'KPPang wrote:Oh good somebody else is having this similar problem - the little 'triangles' mentioned by 'boxy' to my editing works only with the audio of clip or with overlay soundtracks.

I assume you have the video clips in the 'top' main video track.
This would alow you to add colour clips and transitions.

Another method is to use the scissor tool,ok let me explain. For example
if your overlay video or pic clip is 20 sec, then you can cut it in 3 parts.
Highlight the video clip in the overlay track, then cut it 3sec from the begining & 3sec before the end of this video clip.(longer clip will give longer fade effect)You now have 3 portions of the same video clip,on the first portion click the fade in button. You now can control the fade in or fade out time on your video clip in overlay track. You can get fade in and then straight cut out effect or vice versa using this method.Hope this will help.

Overlay fade time
have you considered overlapping the overlays with fade I/O applied. You can then adjust the amount of overlap to suit Ken
