In trying to resolve some sound issues I buggered around with some settings and need some advice.
Under "Project Properties" should the "Edit file format" be set to Mpeg files or Microsoft AVI?
Selecting .mov clips in my project has gotten painfully slow and I am trying to figure out why?
Thanks for any suggestions.

I am producing a DVD movie comprised of both Photos and Video Clips.Ken Berry wrote:... And are you going to let us in on the secret of what you are trying to produce. That way we might at least be able to make an educated guess as to what might be an appropriate format. For that matter, are you only dealing with .mov files or some other formats as well?

The Majority of my video clips are .mov files from my Panasonic Lumix camera, I also have a few clips exported from my DV Camera into VS 11 and saved as .mpg format. The .mov files use H.264 compression.trevor andrew wrote:Pavman
Where possible keep the project properties the same as the video properties.
If they are compatible Mpeg or Avi files then rendering should be easier/quicker.
What type of video files are you using?
Also, should I have exported the video from the camera as a mpg or something else?

Hi
As you have a Mini DV camcorder, I would advise to capture/transfer the video using a firewire connection to DV format. This is transferring the data and no re-coding is required. What you have on the camera is what you get on the PC. This is probably the best method to capture from a Mini DV camera.
The files would be Dv-Avi at 13 Gb per hour.
Your project properties should use the same Avi settings.
