Boxed vs. Download

Are they exactly the same files and features minus the packaging or is the downloaded version missing any templates or other features?

Thanks!!

Exactly the same.
If you download, I'd suggest making a backup copy in case your pc fails.
My preference is to buy hard copies.

Repair install option

and one advantage of having the full boxed version is that you can repair an install with the original discs, which can be useful.

The trick, though, is to ensure that when buying the download version, Corel sends you three download links -- to the main package, to an extra content package, and to a bonus package. They seem recently to have not been sending links to the last two. And once you have these installed (actually the Bonus one is not necessary to to VS), you should go to the Ulead site and download a patch and a free Power Pack which will upgrade VS11 to VS11.5.

The advantages of the download version over the boxed are:

1. No waiting for the postman
2. When you make back up copies of the downloaded files onto a DVD/CD
you can add other things to that DVD/CD such as copies of receipts, your serial number and any extra material that may be associated with that program such as update patches, third party material such as the Burger Transitions, Audacity and so on.
3. If you use a DVD rather than a CD for backing up these files, you can keep several Ulead setup programs on one DVD such as VideoStudio, PhotoImpact, DVD MovieFactory and so on.

Don't rely on one back up disc - I always keep back up copies on a dedicated hard drive for downloads/set up files. I also make at least 3 copies of a back up disc.
