Opening canon RAW CR2 files in PI 12

The 40D RAW format is not yet supported. May be in a future patch. When PI didn't properly support my Canon RAW files in the past, I used the program which came with the camera to convert my RAW. PI was, and still is, one of my favored image editing programs, RAW support or not

I recently downloaded a trial version of Photoimpact XL3 too and have the same problems mentioned in this thread with RAW images from my Olympus E-510. The program is not much use to me if I can't access the RAW images.

Maybe I am doing something wrong.

It is not a problem of PI but the camera makers. They tend to ever so slightly modify their RAW formats, often even with the same file extensions, that it is virtually impossible for any software maker to keep up. Canon CR2 format is a good example for this. My EOS 350 D RAW format is CR2. I have no problem with it but the CR2 format of the Canon 40 D is not yet supported. Who's fault is that I ask you, Canon's for using the same file extensions for a file format which is obviously different or PI for not yet having been able to write a patch for it?

Be sure to let us know if you find a product which supports your RAW format.

Well, Bibble lite for example, or UFRaw, at least for the Oly E-510 8)

Well, you don't have a problem then, have you? 8) Use one of those or wait for PI to come up with a patch

No problem at all. I just liked PI better.

I have the same issue. I too am disappointed that a new release of PI comes out and doesn't support the latest camera formats. Photoshop/Lightroom supported the 40D shortly after the camera was available.

Come on Ulead/Corel. Get with it!
