hi,
things are going well, came across two things i cannot figure out. did check out the manual, tuturials, base, and search. i may have missed the answer though.
title as still - i made a title that ends up in the title track. i do not want the tilte to overlay over the video but between two clips, like a transition still.
moving the clip - i thought i could just move the clip down the timeline but i can't seem to do this, if this is the answer.
what haven't i figured out how to use yet? lol...
thank you.

Yep, this is one of those things that they should make very obvious in the Help file and Manuals, because it is something that is not understood.
With VS you need to place a color clip in the Main video track. This will act as a placeholder, keeping the 2 video clips apart. VS "ripples" or slides all the clips in the Main track to the left, so there are not any "blank" or empty spaces between clips.
Now with your color clip, you can adjust the duration that you need it to appear by just grabbing the yellow handle on the right, and dragging it. Place your title on your title track, and now you have your "still" title..

If you can make the color clip longer, to accommodate the cross-fade. I've had that happen on a few occasions. I just tried by using a couple of clips from the library, and reduced the times down to 15 FRAMES. I was still able to insert the transition.
How short are the 2 clips? VS defaults to 1 sec for the transition, which you can also change.

Another option is to create a still in your favorite image application. Text on black background.
Save the image and import it as a Jpeg or bitmap into your VS library and then insert it on timeline, adjust duration and then add any transitions or effects.
I on occassions find this process a little easier when it comes to controlling the timing in the time line.
Another possible way is to create the title then save a frame as a still and by-pass using a separate image application phase
