DVD with chapters, what software???

Post by jymetalwood »

Hi Group:

As a learning experience, I want to make a DVD, which has several items, with each one having it's own menu item.
I have VS 9 with Movie Wizard in it. It can only produce a whole movie.

I just learned quite a bit from the Chapters, flow chart by SJJ1805.

What software would I need to do this with?

Thanks for the help, I will also post this in video studio group, as that is my present software.

VideoStudio will create a DVD with Chapters
other software that is available:
DVD MovieFactory
DVD Workshop 2

When using VideoStudio rather than using the MovieWizard try using "VideoEditor" and prepare your video with any cuts, titles and other effects. Create a new edited video from the share tab.
Now start a new empty project and go directly to the share tab and select
"Create Disc" - this will activate the DVD Authoring module where you now import your edited video, create chapters and then move on to a menu creation screen. The process is completed by burning to either a DVD disc or hard drive folder.

Thanks for the quick excellent reply.
I will try that method, as well as hints for other software.

Problems in computer re software

Post by jymetalwood »

Howdy:

I followed the excellent advice and was able to attempt to make a DVD, with Video studio.
ON both of my computers, part way into the process, I received the two same error messages.
The first dialogue box: failed to reuse converted Cache file
The second: Report ID 0x800411da(4570)

I notice in one of my machines, I have Nero Express?, it is now attempting to make a DVD for me, the process is over 4 hours.

I'm hoping to take videos, (mainly from you tube)that I have downloaded onto the computer and use them when exercising etc.

I have recorded these videos using zdsoft screen recorder. It has worked the best of several recorders I tried.

Error fault 4570

Post by jymetalwood »

Hi Group:
I just did some searching on 4570 fault. Looks like I'm deep into some quicksand.
I will keep digging myself out gently.

Video and audio recording are not strange to me. I repaired Ampex video tape machines for years.

The various codecs, formats are confusing, oh yes avi D1 or D2 etc etc.
I also have Pinnacle 9.4 on my system. I just deciided to stay with one system.

I was wondering when burning a DVD, how you can avoid rerendering the material

Thanks for reading and the help.

I suspect that the problems are caused by the unusual codecs employed with your zdsoft screen recorder - especially has the same fault reared its ugly head on two separate machines.
Try converting your captured files before hand to another format such as MPEG2. You might be lucky and be able to simply import the files to the VideoStudio timeline and then export as either PAL DVD or NTSC DVD dependant upon your region - then utilise the converted file in your project.

If that fails then use a third party conversion program such as "Super" found in our Links to FREE stuff

Success with video studio Burn

Post by jymetalwood »

I followed some of the instruction in the Hunter ??? article on burning.
I saved the video in Mpeg 2 format. I did a successful burn with Ulead of a two minute item.

BTW, Nero burnt over 25, 2 to 3 minute items successfully (the same ones Ulead got stuck on)
My screen recorder, doesnt show a mpg 2 format. I will save in Microsoft MPEG-4 VK1 codec V2. Then down convert to mpeg 2 for the disc burn.

Thanks for all the education.
