Unable to Insert Transitions

Post by MorningView808 »

I just downloaded VideoStudio 11 today and began working on my movie. I am making a slideshow of pics with some music in the background. For some reason though I am unable to insert the transitions into my little movie. I have tried going to file/preferences/Edit and applying to the transition to the whole project but that doesn't insert transitions. I have tried manually inserting them in between my photos in both the time line and storyboard view and that doesn't work either. I am able to click on the transition effect I want but when I try to drag it down to put in between pics the mouse icon turns into a black circle with a line through it (like a no smoking sign)I would really like to use them so if someone could clue me into what I'm doing wrong I would appreciate it.
I hope I was clear enough....I'm new at making movies/slideshows and I'm not much of computer person. Thanks for the help.

Welcome to the forums,

Are you trying to insert the transitions between clips on the Overlay tracks?

Can't be done. We've asked for this for sometime now, but it has failed to make it into the program.

To use transitions, your images must be on the main video track. There are a couple of workarounds to this, however it requires a couple of overlay tracks, or placing all your images with transitions on the main track, then saving and closing that project. Then open a new project, and insert the VSP (project file), and place it on an overlay track. VS will treat the inserted VSP file as a video clip.

Thanks!

Thank you that helps a lot...the clips are on the overlay track after all. Thanks again, I'll try to get around that. :)

Or, if you simply want to use crossfades or fade to (color), just put 1 clip on overlay track 1 and the second clip on overlay track 2 and overlap them.
