I needed some good software to edit/create videos but the main reason I got this software was because it was recommended to me as a great program to watch/record video game movies using my adaptec gamebridge.
The video works perfectly, good quality no lag/delay. However I have no sound, or rather I should say I get sound but from what I can tell instead of it getting the sound from the gamebridge its using my laptops microphone (during playback I can hear the button clicking and things from my controller but not the game sound) I cant find anywhere in the software to change the input source of the sound only the video tho.
Anybody have some clues on how to fix this?
Also if I just want to play the game and not record to my HDD just uncheck "save to my library" when capturing right?

Windows audio properties
Hi ViciousXUSMC, different kind of post!
not sure of your setup, I'd suggest you check your sound settings in Windows. Assuming you're using XP (since Vista is not so hot for gamers!)
go to "Control Panel" and click on "Sounds and Audio Devices" and the resulting window should open in the "Volume" tab. Click on the "Advanced..." button, which will bring up the "Volume control" window. It may already show the recording properties - if it's set to show playback properties, click on "Options" at the top left then "Properties" from the drop down-box. In the resulting "Properties" window, check the radio button for "Recording". If my theory is correct, you may find the "Microphone" check box selected, in which case you should uncheck it and select "Line in" instead. If you have a speaker icon in your system tray, it's quicker to get to the same point by clicking on that instead.
Good luck!

Oh so this software will just default to what windows is using? Thats very odd because almost all programs let you select a source independently of windows (even the cheapo software that comes with the game bridge) I will try to default it with windows and see if it works or if its even an option.
I am using Vista, I have XP because my laptop is a tripple boot setup but I find Vista is just fine for gaming and infact in some cases better. However the steps you gave are almost the same for Vista and I know what to do if thats truly a fix.
I have a new problem now too
Looks like if I have my game bridge connected I can use it as a capture device but if I do not have it installed the program defaults to use my built in webcam as a capture device. I see the webcam light come on but the program hangs and never loads, worse yet is after windows shuts down the program (or I do so manually threw the task manager) the webcam stays initialized so I can not use any other software with it until a reboot.

VS is not a "Screen Capture" program. For capturing Game Videos while playing, several people use a program called FRAPS. Once the "Screen" game play is completed, then you can use VS to edit that video, then do other things with it, produce video for web distribution, create DVDs, SVCDs, ect.
I've never tried or used a Gamebridge, so I'm at a loss there..

Yeah you are at a loss (not an insult
) FRAPs is for recording PC game videos, I am playing from a console like game cube. Game bridge is a device that lets you use any Svideo or Composite source and view it on your pc thru a usb port. FRAPs will not work for this, you need a video capture program like this.
I was able to go into windows and select the game bridge as the recording device I have a feeling that will have fixed my problem, however I am in the living room and to test it I just used a mini dvd player and cant capture because its copyright protected.
All I wanted was to be able to choose the input source for audio, and of course figure out why the program freezes with my webcam.
