Video file for website
I made a short video with VideoStudio 8. I used the create a video file, and chose streaming video (wmv file). I have a website started with Yahoo.com, and am using their WebSite Builder software to set up the page. According to their instructions on the page I want the video, to click insert video, choose the video from your hard drive and that is it. But for some reason the guy across the street can view it, my wife viewed it on her computer at school, but everyone else says they can't. I called Yahoo, and she said that she couldn't either, said that it show a codec error on her end at Yahoo. She said that it could be a compression problem. If that is the case, how am I going to get this video to work, seeing that is created by VS8? www.weddingstorecentral.com, on the Services page.

website video file
The video file worked for you? and what comma are you talking about

The comma in the link in you post, guess I should have mentioned that.
Yes it works, bumble bee in the beggining. I'm on a 3000k connection so it's hard to judge but I'll bet what's happening is that they are not allowing it enough time to download. By the looks of it that is probably a large file due to the length and quality. Additionally the user has no way of telling if anything is happening since you can't tell if it's connecting, buffereing etc.
I'd suggest a link to a file as opposed to embedded in the page or a page named video demo with some file information....
When your making those videos you have to take into account that some of the people visiting will be on a 56k.

I just haven't figured out yet how to do the link to another page thing. Just learning a little about the web page subject now.

Well the PHP coding produces the link for you here, there's a comma in the link you posted above. You can change it by clicking the edit button on the post. With the comma you get a 404 error (page not found) becaue there are no commas in URL's.steveandbelinda wrote:I just haven't figured out yet how to do the link to another page thing. A good start is here for learning about building webpages: http://www.w3.org/
If your interested try Coffeecup for building them: http://www.coffeecup.com
It doesn't have a lot of fancy buttons and whistles. What it does have is a text editor which allows you to see the coding behind a page. It highlights specific elements in a page so you can better understand what is what. It also has a What you see is what ypou get editor which allows you to bui;d documents like you would in for example Word. You can switch back and forth between visial and code to see what changes are taking affect giving you a better grasp. It's an excellent tool for begginners. You can also make web pages with word but I wouldn't reccommend it.

Works fine for me over here in the UK as well (once I removed your comma !! to get to your site ) - I'm on a 2Mbps connection and it still took about 5 seconds to start playing - anybody on a 56K line is going to have to wait up to a minute.
The link should be http://www.weddingstorecentral.com/
The problem is steveandbelinda you have put a comma after .com and before the backslash - you must always be very very careful when typing any command or URL for the internet - just one little comma, full stop or space in the wrong place can stop everything working.

Plays here in Australia too. I am on a 512 kbps connection and it took about 20 seconds to load. After that, it played smoothly. Moreover, it works well in both Internet Explorer and in Mozilla Firefox. Good that you ensured that, given the increased number of people these days using Firefox -- or at least, like me, are no longer using IE.

I believe that would be pointing to a file on the J: drive of my computer. (By the way, I do have a J: drive and subbed my own video file as a link like yours and it played my video for me.)
I'm using IE 6.0 / XP Home SP2 with all patches applied to both.
Good luck, I hope this information helps you.

I believe you should edit the link as http://www.weddingstorecentral.com/commercial1.wmv
But it still shows File not available in my place.
Hope this helps.
