Does Heroglyph actually plug-in to VS 11?

Post by perfection »

I know i can import the natice heroglyph file in order to use them with VS 11 but can i use heroglyph from within VS11?

I ask because when installing the trial version of heroglyph it did dispaly vidseostudio 11 but there was no check mark alongside. I added the check mark but i could not discover it within VS 11

I only have the trial version of Herglyph at the moment, and I too cannot find where the supposed plug-in might appear in VS. (It does appear in Adobe Premiere Pro 2 under New Item.)

The only place within VS11.5 that I can find reference to it is in 'Insert Video' in the Editing page. In the drop down menu, Heroglyph files (.hprj) now appear as an importable format. But I would imagine the plug-in would do more than that. But I cannot find it in the more obvious places such as Filters, Transitions or the animations for titles... And unfortunately, there does not seem to be a tutorial or explanatory note for it against the Ulead entries on the proDad website.

Hi - thanks for the reply
The manual that i downloaded seemed to have instructions on how to use adorage effects with Videostudio 11

I am beginning to think that heroglyph as a titler can be used ony as a standalone program and its natice project format .hprj can be inported directly into VS as a video for rendering along with the video under editing

I finally downloaded the proper Herglyph Manual/Help Files. And you are quite right. The "plug-in" for Video Studio is only to make VS recognise heroglyph project files as valid formats which can he imported into VS from the stand-along Heroglyph. It appears that it is only with Adobe and Pinnacle that the plug-in actually forms a bridge so that Heroglyph actually works from within the video editing program.

FWIW, here is the relevant extract from the Manual (I deleted the photos):

"Heroglyph projects can be imported in Videostudio directly thanks to the plugin technology. A perfect quality with less data and an absolutely easy handling are the advantages.

Steps In Heroglyph

1) Just create a trailer in the Heroglyph stand alone version
2) Save the result as a project (hprj-file).

Steps in Videostudio

1) Start Videostudio
2) In the Editmode open the previously saved hprj-file in the file menu

OR simply open the hprj-file in the library under Video and drag it into the Videostudio timeline

Description

The Heroglyph project has been imported as a video source and placed into the timeline. Now it can be handled as every other video source for example with additional videoeffects etc.

Further to this a Heroglyph media file can be used also in the overlay layer of the Videostudio timeline. Because 32 Bit alpha channel is used, the background will be masked and a title can be placed in the timeline over one or more scenes."
