'NEXT' button does nothing after menu template is created
Why can I not get past the place where I have customized the menu template. The next button lights up (yellow) and gives the appearance of clicking when i push it, but it takes me no where. I have uninstalled the product and reinstalled it now 3 times. This does not work. I do have Microsoft DirectX November 2007 on my computer as I noticed taht someone else had a similar issues which was resolved by installing this; so this could not be the issue. Can someone please help me?
I also want to add that I just purchased this product and played around with it, burned 2 DVDs after putting a small project together and it worked just fine. Then I noticed something on my desktop that was not previously there before, so I double-clicked on it and all of a sudden it started removing ulead files. (it may have been the original executable that originally installed the program) I shut down the computer quick as the only way to stop it. I uninstalled the program as I said before, then reinstalled it with all the bonus features. After doing all of this, the program no longer recognizes the NEXT button in the step just before burning the DVD.
Thank you!

Something similar happened to me recently that may be related. I also got stuck in the create DVD in the same place. I was able to record back to DV but not complete the DVD process.
What happened was that my 250 GB external hard drive that I use as my temp/work/capture drive got corrupted and failed. I did not know it was corrupted, however, I could not burn the project to DVD.
After it would not turn back on again (it was actually an internal in a case), I went out and bought a new external drive. After having to uninstall and reinstall VS 10+, it then works fine again and no problems burning to DVD.
What do you use as your write drive? Could it be having problems?

No, leave the Program installed on the operating systems drive.
The poster above is saying IF you have are using your external drive as your assigned working folder this could present a problem.
To eliminate that as an actual problem start VS, under Preferences assign your working folder to a drive installed in your computer, or the default OS drive C:
Then see if it will proceed.
If the program works then you may need to change how windows uses and accesses this external usb drive, or like the post above your drive has problems..

3rd post on the same thing!!
HI,
This is the third person having the same problem as I am having.
Do you have Nero 8 Installed?
That is the only thing that I have installed prior to upgrading to 11.5 and powerpack.
Afer re-installling VS 11 I had the same problem.
Same problem with DVD Workshop 2.
I can create the DVD File and burn with Nero but not with VS.
I have sent Support the same info but have not had a reply as yet.

Check in Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs to see if by any chance you have (Nero) InCD installed. It is packet writing software (drag and drop files on the driver icon to accumulate until there are enough to warrant burning a disc). InCD and similar packet writing software in other programs like the Roxio Easy Media Creator suite module, then deny access by other programs to the driver... If you have InCD installed, you have to uninstall it, though the Roxio module can be internally disabled.

Erm... do you mean you cut the power to the computer?mdhaase wrote:...... If so i suggest you work your way through the list of items in this link:
Troubleshooting your computer
Roxio Built Into HP and/or Vista? Etc...
Since I got my new HP computer with lots of RAM, quad processer and 2 hard drives -- and VISTA -- VS11 has worked fine.
Until I tried to create a DVD. It won't allow me to use many features for adding/editing chapters or preview - though it DID let me go to the next step and see and format the menus and create a DVD.
I updated everything per your general message and the DirectX 9 per this thread.
My computer did come with Roxio. Don't know if that's an HP feature or Windows VISTA though if the latter, maybe there needs to be a general warning?
Anyway, I disabled Roxio (at TOOLS, OPTIONS, CLICK ADVANCED,
CLICK DISABLE AUTORUN) and rebooted but nothing changed.
Also when looking a preferences tonight just to see if there was anything relevant, suddenly started getting this weird message once I hit preview "exceeds the hard drive limit" - so maybe that's relevant. (My big hard drives hardly full at all.)
I confess I have to go back to manual and look at relevant settings and maybe just do video on second hard drive with the faster settings.
I'm tempted to just use the other DVD burners, but might as well see if some other tip arises here.

caroldc2,
HP ships the computer with additional burning software, like Roxio. That shouldn't interfere with VS11+, at least mine doesn't, plus I also have Nero 8 installed.
The HP computers use the supplied software for making your "Emergency Recovery Disks" and restore disks, I wouldn't remove it until your sure you don't need it. If you do remove it their are ways to re-install the original software supplied by HP without having to reformat the computer.
Can you be more specific as to what the program doesn't do in the menuing stage. You said that you did burn a dvd.
Also it's important to know what your source video files are, their format and all.

I have the same problem with not being able to go to the NEXT option with VS 11.5+ I assume that yours works ok with Nero 8 installed?etech6355 wrote:caroldc2,

This was the only thing I could think of that would be stopping VS11.
Nero 8 burns the vinished video file to cd/dvd without errors.

Yes, no problems with Nero 8 installed. I do not have Nero InCD installed.
Does the program do this when you start a completely new project or loading an existing project.
Some have fixed this menuing problem by plugging their usb drives back into the computer. If you had used any external device with the program it may be looking for that device.
In a few cases some had burnt dvd folders to their harddisks. The program was still looking for that location to exist when trying to go into the burning module. Although this shouldn't happen with a new project, if the assigned directory is invalid the program should return to using the default (users home directory).
Have you previously created an ISO or dvd folders that VS is still looking for those directories.
Is this occurring from a new project or loading an existing project.
As you may have guessed I'm also guessing what could be wrong. Even if I don't have a dvd in the drive the program still goes into the burning module.
If I do have a dvd in the drive it goes into the burning module.

No NEXT In VS 11.5!!
##### thaught I was onto something with Nero 8 !!
Just does not progress past the NEXT step for burning even though all steps are followed in the creation of dvd process.
I can burn the video file to HDD and use Nero 8 to finish off the DVD but would prefer to use the VS11 Menus for final production.

Accolades -- I don't recall, but have you updated your DirectX from the Microsoft DirectX website. The current patch is dated November 2007 and works on both DirectX 9.0c (XP) and also, importantly, DirectX 10 (Vista). People with the Next/Preview problem have found that this update fixes the problem...
