Win DVD 8 Causes CPU to max out and remain there

I just installed Win DVD 8 Platinum on my Compaq desktop. Pentium 4 at 2.6 Ghz. 1.26 Gig of RAM. After installation, CPU usage goes to 100 %. This occurs when the program is not running, bogging down the entire machine. Unsure as to why this occurs.
