Superimpose another vocal over a Karaoke clip VS11+

What is the best work round for what I want to do-I would like to change part of a karaoke singers vioce with another singer singing the same song
(the 2nd singers vocal is on an audio CD)I want the orignal singer to start then the vocal from the CD to continue after there there is an intrumental only part of the karaoke song. hope this is makes sense .Ken

What's the difficulty with ripping the audio from the CD, clipping the segment of it you want in an audio editing program, then inserting it in one of the audio tracks to line up with the part of the video you want it to sing over...? Of course you might then have to work out a balance between the new audio and the karaoke.

Or does the second singer also have (the same?) music in the background?

The 2nd singers backing is not exactly the same as the Karaoke but what I had in mind was to fade in and out at the change over.Not too concerned about the different backing as long as I can change the vocals
to continue at the same point of the song

I would simply follow the procedure I mentioned above. When I got to the point where I wanted the new singer, I would rubber band the original soundtrack down to zero and leave it there for the length you want the voice-over to be heard. And with the ripped vocal in one of the audio tracks, below the faded out section in the main track, do a fade in and out at either end to coincide with the fade-out and in of the original audio.

You would probably find it easier to do the audio track editing with Audacity = especially where you may wish to zoom right into the audio track to find a good swap over point from one voice to the other.
